Entry-level lift solution

Choosing the right golf cart spindle lift kit

A golf cart spindle lift kit replaces factory steering knuckles with extended drop spindles, lifting your cart while preserving the original front axle and spring assembly. Often searched by cart owners as drop spindle lift kits or golf cart spindle lifts, these bolt-on systems provide an affordable way to gain tire clearance and widen your cart's stance without rebuilding the entire front suspension.

3" to 4" spindle lift

Best for neighborhood cruising and paved resort paths. Clears up to 20-inch tires on Club Car and Yamaha, or 22-inch tires on E-Z-GO, while preserving easy step-in height and standard garage clearance.

20" – 22" tires · Low profile

6" drop spindle lift

The most popular height for aggressive styling and light trail riding. Accommodates 22-inch to 23-inch all-terrain tires mounted on 10-inch, 12-inch or 14-inch aftermarket wheels.

22" – 23" tires · Maximum clearance

Heavy-duty A-arm alternative

If you regularly navigate rocky woods, hunting land or deep ruts, compare independent A-arm suspension systems engineered for superior shock absorption and rough terrain articulation.

Simplicity and stance

How drop spindles lift your cart and improve stability

Unlike full suspension replacement kits, a drop spindle kit relocates the wheel stub axle downward while leaving the factory front axle beam, transverse leaf spring and shock absorbers intact. This design preserves the cart's original steering geometry and factory ride feel on paved roads and turf.

Because the replacement spindles extend outward from the kingpins, the kit broadens the front track width by two to three inches overall. This widened footprint helps counteract the cart's raised center of gravity, delivering greater lateral stability during turns.

Wheel fitment requirement: Spindle lift kits require 10-inch or larger aftermarket wheels with negative offset (typically 3+4 backspacing). Stock 8-inch steel wheels will rub against the drop spindle casting and steering arm.

Four critical checks before ordering your spindle kit

  1. Identify your cart and steering split

Club Car DS carts changed to rack-and-pinion steering in 1997, while E-Z-GO TXT models relocated the steering box in 2001.5. Always confirm your steering generation to ensure spindle tie-rod tapered holes match.

  2. Verify wheel diameter and offset

Factory 8-inch wheels cannot clear aftermarket drop spindles. Select 10-inch or larger wheels with a 3+4 offset to provide adequate clearance between the rim lip, spindle and steering linkage.

  3. Match lift height to tire diameter

A 3-inch or 4-inch spindle lift clears up to 20-inch tires, while a 6-inch lift is required for 22-inch to 23-inch tires. Club Car wheel wells are tighter than E-Z-GO, requiring careful tire outer-diameter checks.

  4. Inspect rear leaf springs and payload

Spindle kits include rear lift blocks and extended U-bolts, but carts fitted with a rear flip seat or cargo bed need heavy-duty rear leaf springs to prevent rear-end sagging under load.

Safety check: On electric carts, always flip the Tow/Run switch under the seat to Tow and disconnect the main battery pack before raising the chassis or loosening steering hardware.

Fast bolt-on setup

Straightforward installation and front-end alignment

A drop spindle lift kit is one of the most accessible DIY upgrades for golf cart owners. Most installations take two to three hours using standard hand tools, a floor jack and jack stands, requiring no cutting or welding on your factory chassis.

After installing the spindles and leveling the rear axle with the included riser blocks, completing a front-end toe alignment is mandatory. Setting proper toe prevents uneven tire scrub and ensures the cart tracks straight forward without pulling to either side.

Torque specification: Tighten tie rod castle nuts and spindle kingpin bolts to 30 ft-lbs, secure them with new cotter pins, and torque rear axle U-bolts to 40 ft-lbs in an even cross pattern.

Upgrade your cart with a reliable spindle lift

Spindle lift kits remain the most popular, cost-effective way to raise your golf cart, install custom wheels and achieve a confident stance without altering factory steering geometry. Verify your cart model year, equip 10-inch or larger offset wheels, and dial in front-end toe alignment to enjoy reliable performance on neighborhood streets and light paths.
